Living for June

April 1, 2009

Now that there are confirmed plans for after graduation, there is only anticipation. Life’s going to be good, but only when June comes. That’s when there will be change – a different environment, different responsibilities, opportunities, and also, finally being able to concentrate on a specific area of work instead of dealing with 7 while simultaneously entertaining the various silly interests of mine that surface from time to time.

And all the fun I’m going to have in Australia. That will come, I have to be patient.

Meanwhile, I’m in both accounting and finance hells. I wish I could understand Finance Theory better though, or at least be able to sit still long enough to try and understand it. It’s incredibly mind boggling, which makes it interesting, but not very fun when there are 5 other courses to do. As for Accounting Theory, well, maybe… not.

Leaving school and moving on to a new lifestyle will be good. It’s time to get out of this 17 years (!!!) of structured education drudgery which my mind is beginning to reject, showing signs of restlessness. At this point in time, I actually find being the lowest life form in the corporate food chain a strangely attractive prospect compared to being the boss of my own learning. Furthering studies? Most likely, but just not anytime too soon.

Airlie Beach! Perhaps I’m a leeeeetle biased, since it’s my hometown, but there are some very pretty areas around there. Whitehaven beach, for example, on Whitsunday Island, photo here: http://www.queensland-australia.com/Images/whitsundays/whitehaven-beach.jpg

In general it’s gotten more touristy in the years I’ve been away (as everywhere, I suppose), but it’s still gorgeous. Esp if you’re planning on doing any diving? Great Barrier Reef, there for the seeing.

How long are you going for, and with who? :) I’d love to go back, but I think grad trip is going to take me to Vietnam and China instead.

OMG the beach is gorgeous! I didn’t know you were from Australia…

I’m going early June, for 2 weeks. Will it be too cold to dive?
I’ll be going with Steven, Shiwei, Jianxiong, Rean, Keith.

I grew up there.. til I was about 8 or so, then went back every year for a month or two thereafter. :) Miss it lots.

I believe the water’s warm enough to dive all year round, and in June you shouldn’t have any problems with the box jellyfish. Lots of sailing around there as well. :) And I think June is the beginning of humpback whale season. But two weeks for a bunch of places would stretch you really thin!

Yeah, we got quite ambitious. But we’re not staying in Perth for long, it’s more of a stopover, just for the cheap round trip tickets =) We spending the bulk of the 2 weeks in Eastern Australia.

That sounds great! We wanted to see the Great Barrier Reef but was afraid it would be the Great Frozen Reef when we get there… haha… Ok, I’ll keep in mind the places you recommend. We haven’t actually planned our itinerary.

Ooooh, yes, I saw cheap tickets to Perth the other day. Madness! Not that I’m complaining or anything. Heh. But yay, ONE MORE WEEK to goooo, and then it’s off into the great unknown. Bit worrying, really.
